Service Plan FAQs

Is the service plan a one time purchase or does it renew?

All FR service plans automatically renew on a quarterly or annual basis based on the term initially purchased. A reminder e-mail will be sent one week prior to renewal. In your FlashRouter account panel, you can cancel the plan at any time to stop any further renewals.

What is included with a FlashRouter?

Does the service plan include a VPN subscription?

A subscription to a VPN does not come with a FlashRouter or Service plan. If you are planning to use a VPN, you would need to sign up for one separately, directly from a provider.

Plug and Play VPN Support

Unlike other VPN Router providers, FlashRouters is proud to offer free VPN service integration with any purchase.

To receive a plug and play with VPN device, you will need to provide our team with the credentials from your VPN provider subscription.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not required but recommended for users who wish to have the simplest, most seamless experience when the FlashRouter arrives. You can always change the password when the device arrives if you wish as well.

To have your router VPN pre-configured:

Select Yes from the “Want Your Router Preconfigured?” on the Payment Page during check out.
Select your VPN provider. If you don’t see your VPN listed select “Other” and you will see an additional field to input who your provider is.
Enter your your VPN username and password
For ExpressVPN Firmware Routers there will be an additional box for your activation code.

Please note: If you do not enter a server location request in “Order Comments”, we will automatically start the device with the closest/optimal server for the location we are shipping the device by default. A location has to be added to the initial configuration for plug and play encryption security to occur on the device.

Do I have to buy a service plan?

Our routers are priced for the custom upgrades performed at our warehouse, testing expenses and keeping the FlashRouter App update to date.

Our service plan has three levels as an optional add-on with your purchase to get continued direct assistance from our team. This is especially useful to customers who are less tech savvy and want direct access to our support team to make sure their network is running exactly how they desire. Here is how these plans differ

Bronze – Basic E-mail Support
Silver – E-mail and Live Chat Support.
Gold – E-mail, Live Chat, and Remote One-on-One Sessions

Each situation and user has different needs and expertise. Our team of US-based support agents are highly trained specialists in VPN and DD-WRT router setup. From firmware updates to networking configuration/troubleshooting,solutions, the purpose of our Service Plans is to help our customers in whatever level they deem necessary.

Does FlashRouters offer phone support?

At this time, we do not provide phone support with our service plans. We have tested phone support for networking troubleshooting in the past but have found that on average caused us to help less customers in a less efficient manner. However, with a purchase of a Gold Service Plan, customers can schedule 1-on-1 remote support sessions via Teamviewer with our engineers and they will provide a hands-on, personal solution, to any problems you may be facing.

Do I need a Service Plan for a firmware upgrade?

Firmware upgrades are free of charge to any FlashRouter customer!

You can visit our support center and select your specific router model to upgrade your firmware based on the recommendations provided.

If you want the help of our Support Team to assist in this upgrade, you can always sign up for our Gold Service Plan and schedule a 1-on-1 Teamviewer session in which our trained engineers will take care of the upgrade for you!

What does the warranty cover?

Our complimentary 1-year hardware warranty does not include tech support outside. If your router suffers hardware failure within 365 days from the date you received the unit, then we will gladly replace your router with another fully tested one. Can I purchase a router without a service plan and subscribe later?

Yes, you may purchase a service plan at any time. However, we can’t guarantee any pricing, or apply any previously offered discounts or specific features at that later date.

IPVanish VPN Setup Guide for Privacy Hero

Your Privacy Hero router uses Cloud Based router management which means you can access the router settings from anywhere on any device that has an internet connection. You can follow these steps while connected to your phone, other Wi-Fi network, or the Privacy Hero network.

IPVanish Wireguard Setup for Privacy Hero (recommended)

1. From any device that has a browser such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet visit app.privacyhero.com.

2. Enter your Privacy Hero account email and password. Click Login.

3. Click the VPN symbol.

4. Click the Change button and select Custom from the dropdown and choose the Wireguard option.

5. In a new tab login to your IPVanish account.

6. Click WireGuard on the left menu to access the WireGuard Configuration Generator.

Then select the server location and click Generate to download the WireGuard configuration file.

7. Drag and drop or click to Upload the server file into the Custom box on your Privacy Hero settings page. Then press Save.

8. Your Privacy Hero settings should now show a Connected message, indicating you have successfully signed in to your IPVanish VPN server!

IPVanish OpenVPN Setup for Privacy Hero

1. From any device that has a browser such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet visit app.privacyhero.com.

2. Enter your Privacy Hero account email and password. Click Login.

3. Click the VPN symbol.

4. Click the Change button and select Custom from the dropdown and choose the OpenVPN option.

5. Download an .ovpn file from the IPVanish server list.

6. Drag and drop or click to Upload the server file into the Custom box on your Privacy Hero settings page.

7. Enter your IPVanish account login as the Username and Password. Then press Save.

8. Your Privacy Hero settings should now show a Connected message, indicating you have successfully signed in to your IPVanish VPN server!

Privacy Hero’s cloud based router settings access makes it so you can change settings while not connected to the Privacy Hero network. Visit the IPVanish IP Check to verify your VPN IP address. If it has not changed be sure to double check that you are indeed connected to the Privacy Hero network.

Keep in mind that the VPN connection will not change the location of the streaming services listed in the Streaming Relocation area of the Privacy Hero settings if the Streaming Relocation feature is Enabled.

ExpressVPN Setup on Roqos

Preparing for ExpressVPN Setup

Obtain your ExpressVPN login information

If you are not already an ExpressVPN user Sign Up Now.

1. Visit ExpressVPN’s website login page.

2. Successfully log in with your account information. Select More.

3. Select Manual Configuration and copy the Username and Password that are displayed on the right hand side of the screen.

Connecting to ExpressVPN in the Roqos Core

Access the Roqos Core UI

1. Login to the Roqos Core web app in a browser on any computer or smart device.

2. Click VPN from the navigation menu and then click VPN OUT.

3. Click the Connect to box.

4. In the Connect dropdown choose 3rd Party VPN Providers and for the VPN Provider dropdown choose ExpressVPN.

Enter your ExpressVPN information

In the Username and Password field enter the ExpressVPN OpenVPN Username and Password that you obtained.

Select an ExpressVPN server

Click the Server dropdown and type in or scroll to your preferred server location.

Click the Save button.

Connect to ExpressVPN

Once you click Save you will be returned to the VPN OUT menu.

Click the Connect button to start your ExpressVPN connection. Please be patient as the router connects your entire network through VPN.

Assign devices to connect to VPN

By default there are no devices assigned to the VPN tunnel. Click Included Devices. From this page you can choose if all devices should connect to ExpressVPN or only certain devices.

From the dropdown select Include all devices if you want every device that connects to the Roqos to connect to ExpressVPN. Then click Save.

If you only want specific devices to connect to ExpressVPN while others bypass the VPN connection select Include selected devices from the dropdown and then toggle the sliders for the devices you want connected to VPN. Click Save.

Verify a successful ExpressVPN connection

Make sure you are connected to the Roqos network via WiFi or ethernet connection on your device.

Visit ExpressVPN’s IP Check to verify your new IP Address and virtual location.

You should see Connected at the top of the page underneath ExpressVPN.

Connect to a different ExpressVPN server

To change your server click Disconnect on the VPN OUT page then return to the Connect To section to select a new server from the Server dropdown and click Save. Now click Connect once again on the VPN Out page.

Disconnect from ExpressVPN

To disconnect from ExpressVPN click the Disconnect button.

NordVPN Setup for GL.iNet Routers

You can connect to NordVPN on your GL.iNet router using NordLynx, OpenVPN, or a Dedicated IP.

Quick Options

NordLynx: Choose your preferred city or country from NordVPN’s server list
OpenVPN: Choose your preferred city or country from NordVPN’s server list.
Dedicated IP (optional): Enter your unique configuration file if you’ve been assigned a static NordVPN IP.

If you are not already a NordVPN user Sign Up Now.

NordVPN NordLynx Setup for GLiNet

1. Get your NordVPN Access Token for NordLynx connections. Log in to your NordVPN account and select NordVPN from your list of Services.

2. At the bottom of the page click Get Access token and you will receive a code via email. Enter this code to proceed.

3. After you enter the email code select Generate new token and set it to Doesn’t expire. Copy this token.

4. Login to GL.iNet firmware settings (usually 192.168.8.1) in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the GL.iNet FlashRouter’s network.

5. Navigate to the VPN tab and select Wireguard Client then choose NordVPN. Enter your Token then click Save and Continue

6. Select your preferred server locations, and click Apply.

7. Start a connection by clicking the 3 dots (…) > Start next to your chosen server.

8. A green dot confirms success. You can also switch between Global Mode or Policy Mode for routing in the VPN Dashboard.

NordVPN OpenVPN Setup for GLiNet

1. Get your NordVPN manual service credentials for OpenVPN connections. Log in to your NordVPN account and select NordVPN from your list of Services.

2. At the bottom of the page in the Manual Setup section click Setup NordVPN manually then under the Configuration section go to Service credentials. Click Verify email to receive a code via email and enter the code to view and copy your credentials.

3. Login to GL.iNet firmware settings (usually 192.168.8.1) in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the GL.iNet FlashRouter’s network.

4. Navigate to the VPN tab and select OpenVPN Client.

5. Select the NordVPN group, enter your manual credentials, then click Save Credentials & Get Servers.

6. Choose UDP (recommended), select your preferred server locations, and click Apply.

7. Start a connection by clicking the 3 dots (…) > Start next to your chosen server.

8. A green dot confirms success. You can also switch between Global Mode or Policy Mode for routing in the VPN Dashboard.

NordVPN Dedicated IP Setup for GLiNet

1. Get your NordVPN manual service credentials for OpenVPN connections. Log in to your NordVPN account and select NordVPN from your list of Services.

3. Login to GL.iNet firmware settings (usually 192.168.8.1) in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the GL.iNet FlashRouter’s network.

4. Navigate to the VPN tab and select OpenVPN Client.

5. Download your Dedicated IP configuration file from the NordVPN website.

6. Click +New Group and name your NordVPN Dedicated IP connection, then upload the configuration file, enter your manual service credentials and click Apply.

7. Start a connection by clicking the 3 dots (…) > Start next to your chosen server.

8. A green dot confirms success. You can also switch between Global Mode or Policy Mode for routing in the VPN Dashboard.

You should now see information appear in the Server Address, Server Listen Port, Traffic Statistics, and Client Virtual IP areas.
Visit NordVPN’s IP Check to verify your new IP address and virtual location.

In some cases you may notice that the location is not showing the same location as the server you have input in your router settings; this is because geo tracking tools are often tricked by VPN connections. As long as you see an IP address that is not the same as your normal Internet IP address then you are indeed connected to NordVPN.

🚫📱Do not run NordVPN apps on devices connected to your NordVPN router. Using the app at the same time as the router VPN may cause conflicts and connection issues.

NordVPN Setup for AsusWRT Firmware Routers

Token: Copy and paste your NordVPN token.

6. You should now see the Profile say Connected, indicating that the NordVPN server is successfully connected to your router!

7. The VPN connection is automatically set to Apply to all devices.

If you only want certain devices to connect to the VPN, then turn off the VPN connection and switch off Apply to all devices.

Now click the pencil next to the Device section and select the devices (computer, phone, etc.) that you want to connect to VPN. Click OK and then click Apply all settings.

NordVPN OpenVPN Setup for AsusWRT

1. Get your NordVPN manual service credentials for OpenVPN connections. Log in to your NordVPN account and select NordVPN from your list of Services.

3. Click on OpenVPN config files. Search and download the server file for your preferred NordVPN location, UDP is recommended.

4. Log in to the Asus settings page by connecting to the Asus router’s WiFi (or wired LAN) on your computer. Then, enter 192.168.50.1 or asusrouter.com in the browser.

Preparing for NordVPN Setup

Obtain your NordVPN manual Username and Password

If you are not already a NordVPN user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the NordVPN website.

2. Click NordVPN on the left hand side and then click Setup NordVPN manually.

3. Enter in the verification code that was sent to your email.

4. Copy and paste your NordVPN manual username and password to a secure location. This is the username and password you will enter into the router settings to connect to NordVPN.

Connecting to NordVPN in the Roqos Core

Access the Roqos Core UI

1. Login to the Roqos Core web app in a browser on any computer or smart device.

2. Click VPN from the navigation menu and then click VPN OUT.

3. Click the Connect to box.

4. In the Connect dropdown choose 3rd Party VPN Providers and for the VPN Provider dropdown choose NordVPN.

In the Username and Password field enter the NordVPN OpenVPN Username and Password that you obtained.

Navigate to NordVPN server recommendation page. Click Recommended server and select the country you want to connect to and note the server number that appears.

Click the Location dropdown and type in or scroll to the preferred server country.

Click the Server dropdown and type in or scroll to the server number that was recommended. Select the UDP version of the server.

Click the Save button.

Connect to NordVPN

Once you click Save you will be returned to the VPN OUT menu.

Click the Connect button to start your NordVPN connection. Please be patient as the router connects your entire network through VPN.

Preparing for PIA Setup

Obtain your PIA login information

If you are not already an PIA user Sign Up Now.

1. Visit PIA’s website login page.

In the Username and Password field enter the PIA Username and Password that you logged in with.

Select a PIA server

Click the Server dropdown and type in or scroll to your preferred server location.

Click the Save button.

Connect to PIA

Once you click Save you will be returned to the VPN OUT menu.

Click the Connect button to start your PIA connection. Please be patient as the router connects your entire network through VPN.

Private Internet Access VPN Setup Guide for Privacy Hero

Private Internet Access (PIA) Wireguard Setup for Privacy Hero (recommended)

1. From any device that has a browser such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet visit app.privacyhero.com.

2. Enter your Privacy Hero account email and password. Click Login.

3. Click the VPN symbol.

4. Click the Change button and select Private Internet Access from the dropdown.

5. Enter your correct PIA account login username and password and click Save.

8. Your Privacy Hero settings should now show a Connected message, indicating you have successfully signed in to your PIA VPN server!

Private Internet Access (PIA) OpenVPN Setup for Privacy Hero

1. From any device that has a browser such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet visit app.privacyhero.com.

2. Enter your Privacy Hero account email and password. Click Login.

3. Click the VPN symbol.

4. Click the Change button and select Custom from the dropdown and choose the OpenVPN option.

5. Enter your PIA Account login as the Username and Password.

6. Now log in to your PIA Account page.

7. Go to the Downloads section.

8. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and go to OpenVPN Configuration Generator.

9. Choose OpenVPN 2.4 or newer and Linux.

10. From the Select Port section, choose UDP/1198 AES-128-CBC for a faster connection or choose UDP/1197 AES-256-CBC for stronger security as shown in the image below then Click Generate to download the server configuration file.

11. Drag and drop or click to Upload the server file into the Custom box on your Privacy Hero settings page then click Save.

12. Your Privacy Hero settings should now show a Connected message, indicating you have successfully signed in to your PIA VPN server!

Privacy Hero’s cloud based router settings access makes it so you can change settings while not connected to the Privacy Hero network. Visit the Private Internet Access IP Check to verify your VPN IP address. If it has not changed be sure to double check that you are indeed connected to the Privacy Hero network.

Keep in mind that the VPN connection will not change the location of the streaming services listed in the Streaming Relocation area of the Privacy Hero settings.

Windscribe WireGuard Setup

Preparing for Windscribe WireGuard Setup

Verify your Windscribe login information

If you are not already a Windscribe user Sign Up Now.

Log in to your account on the Windscribe website.

Go to the Windscribe WireGuard config generator page and select the Server location and Port you would like to use. Click Download Config.

Open the .conf file that is downloaded using Notepad in Windows or TextEdit in Mac.

Navigate to Setup > Tunnels

Enter Winscribe WireGuard settings

1. Click Add Tunnel.

2. Set Tunnel to Enable.

3. Select Wireguard from the dropdown.

3. Set CVE-2019-14899 Mitigation to Enable. Set NAT via Tunnel to Enable. Set Local Port to 51820. Set MTU to 1420.

4. Check Firewall inbound and Kill Switch.

5. Set Advanced Settings to Enable and copy the PrivateKey from the .conf file and paste it into the Local Private Key field.

6. Click Add Peer.

7. Set Peer Tunnel IP to 0.0.0.0. Set Peer Tunnel DNS to the DNS found in the .conf file.

8. Set Endpoint to Enable. Copy and Paste the Endpoint from the .conf file and paste it into the Endpoint Address field. Enter the same Port that appears next to the Endpoint.

9. Leave Allowed IPs as 0.0.0.0/0. Set Router Allowed IP’s via tunnel to Enable. Set Persistent Keep Alive to 25.

10. Copy and Paste the PublicKey from the .conf file and paste it into the Peer Public Key field.

11. Set Use Pre-shared Key to Enable. Copy and Paste the Presharedkey from the .conf file and paste it into the Pre-Shared Key field.

12. Copy the Address from the .conf file and paste it into the IP Addresses/Netmask(CIDR) field.

Certain DD-WRT builds will show two separate fields here: IP Address and Subnet Mask. If that is the case set the IP Address field to the Address without the /32 added and set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.255

21. At the bottom of the page click Save and then click Apply Settings.

Verify a successful Winscribe connection

Navigate to Setup > Tunnels

You should Endpoint, Latest handshake, and Transfer in the WireGuard status area.
Visit whatismyipaddress.com to verify your status as using Winscribe.

Back up your settings

Navigate to Administration > Backup

Click the Backup button.
A file named nvrambak.bin will be saved to your computer.
You can load nvrambak.bin to restore your settings in the event of a reset.

Parental Controls on Roqos

The Roqos Core includes a suite of user access settings which can be used as Parental Controls.
You can create individual user profiles and assign specific devices. Using these profiles you can restrict access, block certain content, or even monitor internet usage if you choose to do so.

Create User Profiles

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS.
Select the ADD USER button at the top of the menu.
Create a name to identify the user. You may also add a photo or picture to associate with this user however this is optional.
Select the SAVE button at the bottom of the menu.

Assign Devices

Once you have created a user, you must assign one or more devices to the user.
Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list.
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu.

Select DEVICES.
Select ADD DEVICE.

The ADD DEVICES menu lists all devices which are currently or previously connected to the Roqos. You cannot assign a device to a user unless it has been connected to the Roqos.
Use the check box to select one or more devices and then select the SAVE button to assign the device to the user.

A device can only be assigned to one user. Access restrictions you place on a user such as scheduled internet access or content restriction will apply to all devices assigned to that user regardless of who in your home is actually using the device at that time.

Turn Off Internet Access

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu
Use the PAUSE button next to the user’s name to halt all internet access to the devices assigned to this user. Conversely, you can restore internet access by pushing the PLAY button here as well.

Schedule Internet Access

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list.
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu.
Select SCHEDULE PAUSES. You can create multiple schedules for each user to pause their internet access on a daily recurring basis for every day of the week.

Enable Content Filters

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list.
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu.
Select FILTER. Use existing category and content filters provided by Roqos and customize with your own blocked and allowed site lists.
Select SAVE.

Monitor Internet Usage

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list.
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu.
Select USAGE HISTORY. Access usage data for all devices assigned to this user. This includes websites visited and activity times.

Please note that in order to collect device information, you must enable this functionality on your Roqos. It is disabled by default.

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select ADVANCED SETTINGS.
Select MISCELLANEOUS.
Activate the COLLECT USER INTERNET USAGE and COLLECT DEVICE DATA USAGE options.

Roqos Core Internet Setup and Activation

Follow this article when you receive your new Roqos Core router to create your Roqos account, connect your Roqos to the Internet, and customize your network so it is ready to use.

Create your Roqos account

1. From any device that has a browser such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet visit login.roqos.com

2. Select Create Account.

3. Enter the Email address and password you want to set for your Roqos account. This will be your login to the Roqos settings moving forward. Click Next.

4. Enter the name and phone number you want associated with your Roqos. Click Next.

5. Enter the address where your Roqos is located. This section may require a CAPTCHA to be completed to authenticate you are human. Click Create Account.

6. You have now created your Roqos account. In a new tab proceed to open the email from Roqos and click the Activate account button.

Activate your Roqos Internet

1. From the Account created page click Next to begin the Internet Setup of the Roqos.

2. Select the Roqos model Teal RC10-P. Click Next.

3. Connect the ethernet cable that came with your Roqos from the port labeled INTERNET on the back of your Roqos to an open ethernet port on your ISP Modem or other router in your network.

4. Then connect the power adapter that came with the Roqos to the back of the Roqos. Wait for the light on the Roqos to begin blinking blue. Once your see the blinking blue lights on the Roqos click Next.

If your Roqos lights does not begin blinking blue after a long while please see the steps in this article and contact us.

5. Enter in the Roqos serial number found on the bottom of the device exactly as it appears there. Click Next.

Setup your Roqos Network

1. Enter in a name that you would like to call the Roqos. This is just the Roqo’s device name and it is not the WiFi network name. Click Next.

2. Select the Time Zone of your actual location from the dropdown. Click Next.

3. Set the WiFi name and password for the Roqos. The WiFi name should be unique and not a duplicate of an existing wireless network. This will be the name that appears in your wireless devices available network list and the password to join the devices to the network. Click Next.

4. Select the custom alert settings as you best see fit using the toggle switches. We typically recommend having the first two toggles selected for Email Alerts and Consolidate Security Alerts. Click Next.

Begin connecting your devices to the Roqos network

You are now done setting up your Roqos to connect to the Internet and can begin joining your wireless devices to the Roqos network and exploring the Roqos Core Features.

Wireless Guest Network Setup – Bridged (Advanced)

If you would like to prevent visitors from connecting to your main WiFi network then you can create a Bridged Guest Network that will prevent access to the main router. This setup also allows you to create different rules for different WiFi SSID’s in your home ranging from QoS controls, access restrictions, VPN network segmentation, and more.

Preparing for Wireless Guest Network Setup

If you have a Dual-band or Tri-Band router you can setup a WiFi Guest Network, creating a separate VLAN (virtual local area network) for your visitors, or in order to segment your VPN networks on any band you like. We recommend using the 2.4GHz network for your DD-WRT Guest Wireless Network so it is compatible with the most possible WiFi devices. Setting up a guest network for visitors in your home allows you to keep them off of your main WiFi network.

We recommend performing this setup while connected to the FlashRouter via ethernet cable. If your computer does not have an ethernet port and you must proceed via wireless connection to the FlashRouter pay attention to the wireless connection as you may need to rejoin the FlashRouter’s network after making changes.

DD-WRT Router Setup for Wireless Guest Network

Enter Wireless settings

Navigate to Wireless > Basic Settings

Bridged Wireless Guest Network Setup on DD-WRT FlashRouter – Setting SSID for Guest Network

Under the 2.4GHz or 5GHz Interface click the Add button.
In the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field enter the unique network name of the guest network.
Click Save.

Navigate to Wireless > Wireless Security

Duplicate the wireless security settings that are set for the other bands for the newly created virtual interface.

Create Bridge

Navigate to Setup > Networking

Under Create Bridge click Add. Name the newly created bridge br1.
Click Apply Settings

Bridged Wireless Guest Network Setup on DD-WRT FlashRouter – Assign Bridge

Under Assign to Bridge select br1 from the Assignment dropdown. Select wl1.1 or ath1.1 depending on your router model.
Click Apply Settings.

Depending on the router model and WiFi band you are using, the wireless interfaces will be labelled differently.

This setting can be labelled wl1.1, ath0.1, wl2.1, and so on. Make sure when you get up to the bridge assignment section that you are using the correct guest network Virtual Interface.

Under Network Configuration br1 select Enable for Forced DNS Redirection.
Set Optional DNS Target to 208.67.220.220
Set IP Address to 192.168.12.1
Set Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0
Click Apply Settings.

Multiple DHCP Server

Bridged Wireless Guest Network Setup on DD-WRT FlashRouter – Configure DHCP Server Settings

Under Multiple DHCP Server click Add.
Set the first dropdown to br1.
Click Apply Settings.
Reboot your router.

Firewall Rules

Navigate to Administration > Commands

Copy the fire script from below and paste into the empty Commands shell
Click Save Firewall.
Wait one minute and then reboot your router.

You can load nvrambak.bin to restore your settings in the event of a reset.

Why are devices disconnecting from Wireless?

If you find that wireless devices are routinely disconnecting from the FlashRouter’s network we recommend that you do the following:

On the Wireless > Wireless Security page make sure you are using WPA2 Personal / AES as your security settings.
On the Wireless > Basic Settings adjust the Wireless Channel. Select a wireless channel with less interference. The best channel will depend on your wireless environment.

Roqos VPN Connected, but my device IP is unchanged

If your VPN Out page in your Roqos settings is reporting that you are Connected to your VPN provider but your IP Address and location have not changed when you visit What is my IP address? follow the below checklist.

Double check that your device is connected to the Roqos network

Since the Roqos UI is being accessed securely via the cloud you can change the settings while your device is not connected to the Roqos network. This would result in your IP Address not updating when you connect to VPN.

Make sure that you are connected to your Roqos WiFi network or from an ethernet port on the back of the Roqos directly to your device and not another network.

Assign Devices To Connect To VPN in the Roqos

By default there are no devices assigned to the VPN tunnel. To assign devices to the Roqos’ VPN connection.

1. Login to your Roqos UI.

2. Select the VPN tab on the left hand menu and select VPN Out.

3. Click Included Devices. From this page you can choose if all devices should connect to VPN or only certain devices.

4. From the dropdown select Include all devices if you want every device that connects to the Roqos to connect to VPN or if you only want specific devices to connect to VPN while others bypass the VPN connection select Include selected devices from the dropdown and then toggle the sliders for the devices you want connected to VPN. Click Save.

Turn off VPN device applications

Connecting to VPN via a device application or browser extension at the same time while connecting via your Roqos is not recommended. Doubling up on VPN connections can cause issues with speeds and stability.

When you are connected to the Roqos VPN network at home you should leave all VPN applications and extensions disconnected and unopened.

You can connect to ExpressVPN on your AsusWRT router using OpenVPN.

Quick Options

OpenVPN: Download your preferred server .ovpn configuration file from the ExpressVPN website.

If you are not already a ExpressVPN user Sign Up Now.

EXPRESSVPN SETUP GUIDE FOR ASUSWRT

1. Log in to your account on the ExpressVPN website.

2. In the “Set up your devices” section, click More and select Manual Configuration from the menu options.

3. Copy the Username and Password that are displayed on the right

4. Download a server file from any of the available regions shown in the ExpressVPN Manual Configuration section (Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, etc)

5. Log in to the Asus settings page by connecting to the Asus router’s WiFi (or wired LAN) on your computer. Then, enter 192.168.50.1 or asusrouter.com in the browser.

6. Navigate to the VPN tab and then click on the VPN Fusion tab, then click Add Profile

7. Fill in your NordVPN information then click Apply and Enable.

Connection Name: Choose a name for your ExpressVPN OpenVPN connection.
VPN Type: Select OpenVPN
Import .ovpn File: Upload the OpenVPN file that you downloaded.
Username and Password: Copy and paste your ExpressVPN manual service credentials from step 3.

8. You should now see the Profile say Connected, indicating that the NordVPN server is successfully connected to your router.

9. The VPN connection is automatically set to Apply to all devices.

If you only want certain devices to connect to the VPN, then turn off the VPN connection and switch off Apply to all devices.

Now click the pencil next to the Device section and select the devices (computer, phone, etc.) that you want to connect to VPN. Click OK and then click Apply all settings.

Connect your devices to the Asus router network and visit the ExpressVPN website, at the top it should display Your Status: Protected.
Visit ExpressVPN’s IP Check to verify your new IP address and virtual location.

🚫📱Do not run ExpressVPN apps on devices connected to your ExpressVPNrouter. Using the app at the same time as the router VPN may cause conflicts and connection issues.

ProtonVPN Setup Guide for GL.iNet Routers

You can connect to ProtonVPN on your GL.iNet router using Wireguard or OpenVPN.

Quick Options

Wireguard: Download your preferred server .conf configuration file from the ProtonVPN website.
OpenVPN: Download your preferred server .ovpn configuration file from the ProtonVPN website.

If you are not already a ProtonVPN user Sign Up Now.

ProtonVPN Wireguard Setup for GLiNet (Recommended)

1. Login to your ProtonVPN account and go to the Downloads section of your ProtonVPN account page

2. Scroll down to find the WireGuard configuration section. Name your configuration and then select Router as the platform, and select Standard server configs.

3. Click Create button to choose the recommended server or scroll down to choose and Download any of the available server files from the list.

4. Login to GL.iNet firmware settings (usually 192.168.8.1) in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the GL.iNet FlashRouter’s network.

5. Navigate to the VPN tab and select WireGuard Client then click + New Group and name your connection and click the check to save.

6. Upload the configuration file and click Apply.

7. Start a connection by clicking the 3 dots (…) > Start next to your chosen server.

8. A green dot confirms success. You can also switch between Global Mode or Policy Mode for routing in the VPN Dashboard.

ProtonVPN OpenVPN Setup for GLiNet

1. Log in to your ProtonVPN account and navigate to the Account tab. Scroll down to find your OpenVPN specific Username and Password.

2. Go to the Downloads section of your ProtonVPN account page

3. Scroll down to find the OpenVPN configuration Files. Select Router as the platform, UDP as the protocol, and select Standard server configs. Choose your preferred country and download the configuration file.

4. Login to GL.iNet firmware settings (usually 192.168.8.1) in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the GL.iNet FlashRouter’s network.

DNS Setup for DD-WRT FlashRouters

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the phonebook of the Internet. DNS resolves website domain names (www.website.com) to IP Addresses so you don’t have to remember the IP Address of every site you visit.

We setup each FlashRouter with Google DNS (8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4) and/or OpenDNS (208.67.220.220 , 208.67.222.222) to prevent your ISP DNS from leaking when connected to the FlashRouter.

By using a trusted DNS server like those listed below, or from your trusted VPN service provider, you can prevent ISP’S from compiling your browsing data and selling it to third parties without your consent.

Navigate to Setup > Basic Setup

Scroll down to Network Address Server Settings (DHCP).
Enter in any combination of valid DNS servers into Statict DNS fields 1, 2, and 3.
Click Apply Settings at the bottom of the page.
Power cycle your FlashRouter off and back on.

My VPN stopped working on my FlashRouter.

The VPN connection on the FlashRouter will not drop in most instances however if the VPN stopped working follow the steps below.

In order to use the FlashRouters Privacy App you need DD-WRT build 02/15/22 r48362 or 2/10/20 r42335.

Follow these instructions to upgrade the firmware to 02/15/22 r48362: How do I upgrade the DD-WRT firmware of my FlashRouter?

If you would like the fully featured FR Privacy App version with Simple Setup you must use firmware builds from 2/10/20 r42335.

FlashRouters Privacy App

Navigate to Status > MyPage

If MyPage is not properly loading the FlashRouters Privacy App try reinstalling the FlashRouters Privacy App.
With the Auto Connect to VPN box checked simply power off the FlashRouter and power it back on to connect back to VPN.
Verify that you have the correct settings entered for your provider. A change in the user information used to authenticate the VPN connection will cause a disconnect.
Try a different VPN server location.
If applicable, switch from UDP to TCP or vice versa.
Make sure that you have any VPN/proxy apps and extensions turned off on all devices connected to the FlashRouter.

Verify a successful PIA connection

Back up your settings

A file named nvrambak.bin will be saved to your computer.

How to change the PIA server

What company do you use for shipping?

For domestic shipping, we offer United State Postal Service (USPS), and a FedEx Expedited 2-3 Day delivery option.

For International shipments, we offer USPS and FedEx.

Where do you ship from?

We ship all packages from our New Jersey warehouse.

How much does shipping cost?

Domestic Customers:

Free Standard Shipping 3-10 day Delivery when you purchase a router with any Service Plan.
$20 Flat Rate FedEx 2-3 Day Express shipping

International Customers:

Pricing for USPS, and FedEx will vary by country. You can see rates on the Shipping Estimate tab on any FlashRouters product page. FlashRouters does not add any internal handling fees to international rates.
Note: Customers pay customs, duties, processing fees, and taxes (if applicable).

How fast do you ship?

We aim to ship your purchase within 1-2 business days from the original order date.

There may be a delay of up to 24 hours if our configuration team is unable to configure your router as requested. In these cases, our support team will reach out to you in an attempt to find a solution. If the team does not hear back from you within 24 hours they will ship out the unit to avoid further delays. Keep in mind our support team will be available to assist if you have any setup issues once you receive your router.

Who pays for shipping?

Domestic customers can choose Free standard shipping. Customers pay shipping costs including customs, duties, processing fees, and taxes (if applicable) for all other options.

Can you ship to my country?

We ship to almost all countries around the world with some exclusions. If you would like to ship to any of these excluded countries, we recommend using PayPal and a Freight forwarding service such as Aramex, MyUS, or Shipito.

Another option if you are located in a country we do not ship to is to purchase a compatible router locally that we can flash remotely for you via our Flash My Router plan. A full list of compatible routers are listed there.

Customs and Expenses

Will there be extra customs charges when my FlashRouter arrives?

There may be additional customs fees incurred based on the local importation laws of your country. You (the recipient) are responsible for all customs fees charged by your country’s customs agency.

Customs charges are NOT factored into the FlashRouters shipping cost.

All customs fees will be a separate charge and must be paid for by the recipient of the package.

We do our best to inform you of possible customs fees to the best of our ability, however we will not accept returns because of refusal to pay these fees.

If we receive a return due to failure to pay customs fees, you will be refunded but ONLY for the price of the FlashRouter. Original Shipping charges will NOT be refunded.

We do our best to make FlashRouters’ shipping quick and affordable but are unable to foresee all customs-related issues. Please be sure to check before ordering if you are concerned with local customs fees.

Do you charge sales tax?

We will charge sales tax in any state where we are required to do so. Currently that is within New Jersey, due to the fact that this is the physical location of our business and New York but that is subject to change as law dictates.

Any taxes or customs fees that are incurred to your country’s current policies are out of our hands. We do our best to make the router and the shipping quick and affordable.

Privacy Hero Change VPN Providers

Each Privacy Hero router comes with a year free of Privacy Hero WireGuard VPN and can be setup for NordVPN and Surfshark users as well. Use these steps to change between the VPN providers to find the best connection for your needs.

1. From any device that has a browser such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet visit app.privacyhero.com

2. Enter your Privacy Hero account email and password. Click Login.

If you have not created your Privacy Hero account yet please follow these instructions.

3. Click the VPN symbol.

4. Click the Change button and select the VPN provider that you want to use.

Follow our guides for connecting to NordVPN or Surfshark. If you are switching to Privacy Hero VPN just select it from dropdown and toggle the VPN switch to On.

How do I access my Roqos device settings?

Your Roqos Core’s settings or UI (User Interface) is accessible via a secure cloud based connection rather than the typical local access of other routers. This means that you can manage your Roqos from anywhere in the world not just at home.

Visit the Roqos Login URL

From any device that has a browser such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet visit login.roqos.com

Login with your Roqos account

Enter in the email and password that you set when your Roqos was initially setup. If you still need to create your Roqos account and activate your Roqos follow our Activate and Connect Roqos to Internet guide.

Proceed with making the changes to the settings you desire

Now that you are logged in to your Roqos UI you adjust any settings as you see fit for your network. For guides on how to make specific changes to your Roqos view our Roqos Setup Guide area.

CyberGhost AsusWRT OpenVPN Setup

Preparing for CyberGhost Setup

Obtain your CyberGhost OpenVPN information

If you are not already a CyberGhost user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the CyberGhost website.

2. Select VPN.

3. Click Configure New Device.

4. Set Protocol to OpenVPN. Select the Country you would like to connect to. Select the Server Group. Name the device in the Device Name field. Click Save Configuration.

5. Press View configuration.

6. Copy the Username, and Password that appear to a notepad, since you will need this information later in the setup process. Click Download Configuration.

CyberGhost Website OpenVPN Configuration Files Generator 1

Open the folder that was downloaded. Then open the ca.crt the client.crt, and client.key files with NotePad++ for Windows or TextEdit for Apple. All CyberGhost servers have different keys and certificates.

AsusWRT Router Setup for CyberGhost

Login to AsusWRT firmware settings in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the AsusWRT FlashRouter’s network.

1. Navigate to the VPN tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Fusion tab.

3. Click Add profile.

4. In the Connection Name field enter in the name you’d like to use for this OpenVPN Client profile. We typically advise entering in the location or server number here. Our example server was in USA so I have entered in CyberGhost USA.

5. In the VPN Type dropdown select OpenVPN.

6. Click Import .ovpn file and select the openvpn.ovpn file from the folder you downloaded earlier. Then click Upload.

7. In the Username and Password fields enter in the CyberGhost assigned username and password that you obtained earlier.

8. After uploading the openvpn.ovpn file you will get a message that says “Complete, Lack of Client Key!, Lack of Client Certificate, Lack of Certificate Authority”. For CyberGhost you need to enter in these details manually. Click Import the CA file or edit the .ovpn file manually and then click the edit icon next to Content modification of Keys and Certificate.

9. In the Certificate Authority field paste in the entire content of the ca.crt file.

10. In the Client Certificate field paste in the entire content of the client.crt file.

—– BEGIN xxx —– / —– END xxx —– block (including those two lines).

11. In the Client Key field paste in the entire content of the client.key file.

—– BEGIN xxx —– / —– END xxx —– block (including those two lines).

Then click OK.

8. Click Apply and Enable at the bottom of the page.

If you only want certain devices to connect to the OpenVPN Client profile you are setting up instead of all the devices connected to the FlashRouter’s network click into the profile and disable Apply to all devices. Then click Devices and select the devices that you want to connect to VPN.

9. At the top of the page set the Service State toggle to ON to activate the VPN connection.

Verify a successful CyberGhost connection

You should now see a CONNECTED message.
Visit What is my IP Address from a private/incognito browser to verify your new IP address and virtual location.

How to change the CyberGhost server

Follow the steps at the top of the page to create a new CyberGhost location profile in your account.
Then proceed with the settings same as initial setup.

ExpressVPN Merlin OpenVPN Setup

Preparing for ExpressVPN Merlin Setup

Obtain your ExpressVPN OpenVPN Information

If you are not already an ExpressVPN user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the ExpressVPN website.

2. Successfully log in with your account information. Select More.

3. Select Manual Configuration and copy the Username and Password that are displayed on the right hand side of the screen.

4. Click the Server Location that you want to connect to. This will download a .ovpn file to your computer that we will use later on. There is no need to open the file. For this example I have selected New York but feel free to select any server listed there.

Merlin Router Setup for ExpressVPN

Login to Asus Merlin firmware settings in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the Merlin FlashRouter’s network.

1. Navigate to the VPN tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Client tab.

3. Click Choose file and select the .ovpn file you downloaded earlier. Then click Upload.

4. Set Automatic Start at boot time to Yes if you want the VPN connection to begin automatically when the router is powered off and back on.

5. In the Description field enter in the name you’d like to use for this OpenVPN Client profile. We typically advise entering in the location or server number here. Our example server was in New York so I have entered in ExpressVPN New York.

6. Set Accept DNS Configuration to Strict. Set Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel to Yes (all). Set Kill Switch to Yes or No depending on if you want the Internet to be killed if the VPN connection drops.

If you only want certain devices to connect to the OpenVPN Client profile you are setting up instead of all the devices connected to the FlashRouter’s network please set the Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel to VPN Director. Then complete the instructions on this page and then view our VPN Director guide.

7. Enter your ExpressVPN username and password that you obtained earlier in the Username and Password. Note that these are different from your ExpressVPN email login and password.

8. Click Apply at the bottom of the page.

9. At the top of the page set the Service State toggle to ON to activate the VPN connection.

Verify a successful ExpressVPN connection

You should now see a CONNECTED message.
Visit ExpressVPN’s IP Check to verify your new IP address and virtual location.

How to change the ExpressVPN server
