Flint/Slate GL.iNet Disable Wi-Fi

Follow this guide to disable Wi-Fi network on your GL.iNet FlashRouter.

1. Connect your computer, phone, or tablet to the GL.iNet router via wireless (FlashRouter24 / FlashRouter50) or via ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports on the router.

The FlashRouter WiFi password is printed on the sheet that came with the router and is set to Wireless#[First 5 characters of your router MAC]. The router MAC can be found on the bottom of your router if you cannot locate the sheet. For e.g. if your MAC is 1459C07E70A8 then your WiFi password is Wireless#1459C

Be sure to capitalize the W.

2. Once connected via wireless or ethernet on your device open your browser and go to 192.168.8.1

3. Enter openwrt as the admin password to access the GL.iNet firmware settings.

4. Click Wireless.

5. Click Modify under the 5GHz or 2.4GHz band.

The 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands must be disabled at separate times. Keep in mind that if you are connected to wireless when disabling one band you may need to reconnect with the other band to disable it. Also make sure you have a device that has ethernet capabilities so you can still access the settings with wireless disabled.

6. Set the Enable Wi-Fi toggle to the OFF position and click Apply.

Flint/Slate GL.iNet Repeater Setup

If you want to connect your FlashRouter to the Internet via Wi-Fi instead of an ethernet cable you can setup a FlashRouter as a Wireless Repeater. In Wireless Repeater mode the FlashRouter connects to an available network via WiFi and then creates a completely separate network segment for you.

1. Connect your computer, phone, or tablet to the GL.iNet router via wireless (FlashRouter24 / FlashRouter50) or via ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports on the router.

Be sure to capitalize the W.

2. Once connected via wireless or ethernet on your device open your browser and go to 192.168.8.1

3. Enter openwrt as the admin password to access the GL.iNet firmware settings.

4. Select the Internet tab.

5. In the Repeater area select Connect.

6. Select the available Wi-Fi network you want the FlashRouter to use for Internet from the list. You can use a 2.4GHz and/or 5GHz network to connect.

7. Enter the correct Wi-Fi password in the Password field for the network you selected. Then click Apply.

8. You are now setup with the GL.iNet FlashRouter receiving Internet via Wi-Fi. The Repeater area should now be filled in with the network information of the connection as shown below.

Preparing for Mullvad WireGuard Setup

Verify your Mullvad login information

If you are not already a Mullvad user Sign Up Now.

Log in to your account on the Mullvad website.

Select Manage ports and WireGuard Keys displayed on the account page.

DD-WRT Router Setup for Mullvad WireGuard

Navigate to Setup > Tunnels

Enter Mullvad WireGuard settings

1. Click Add Tunnel.

2. Set Tunnel to Enable.

3. Select Wireguard from the dropdown.

4. Click Add Peer.

5. Set Endpoint to Enable.

6. Set Router Allowed IP’s via tunnel and Use Pre-shared Key to Disable.

7. Click Generate Key.

8. Set Advanced Settings to Enable.

9. Copy the Local Private Key.

10. In a new tab (leave the DD-WRT settings opened), go to your Mullvad Account and click Manage Ports and WireGuard Keys.

11. Click WireGuard configuration file.

12. Select Linux as your Platform.

13. Click Manage Keys.

14. Paste the copied Local Private key to the Manage WireGuard Keys field and click Import Keys.

15. Select your Country, City, and Server number that you want to connect to.

16. Click Advanced Settings.

17. Set the Tunnel Traffic to Only IPv4.

18. Click Download File.

19. Open the config file that was downloaded to your computer with NotePad or Notepad++ for Windows or TextEdit for Mac.

20. In the downloaded config file under [Interface] enter the Address into the IP Addresses/Netmask(CIDR) field in the DD-WRT settings.

Certain DD-WRT builds will show two separate fields here: IP Address and Subnet Mask. If that is the case set the IP Address field to the Address without the /32 added and set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.255

21. In the config file under [Peer] copy the PublicKey and paste it into the Peer Public Key field in the DD-WRT Settings.

22. In the config file under [Peer] copy the Endpoint and paste it into the Endpoint Address field.

23. At the bottom of the page click Save and then click Apply Settings.

Set Mullvad DNS servers

Navigate to Setup > Basic Setup

Click Apply Settings.

Reboot the FlashRouter

Navigate to Administration > Management

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the red Reboot Router button. Wait for the FlashRouter to reboot and then reconnect.

Verify a successful Mullvad connection

Navigate to Setup > Tunnels

You should see Endpoint, Latest handshake, and Transfer in the WireGuard status area.
Visit Mullvad’s IP Check to verify your status as using Mullvad.

Back up your settings

Navigate to Administration > Backup

Click the Backup button.
A file named nvrambak.bin will be saved to your computer.
You can load nvrambak.bin to restore your settings in the event of a reset.

NordVPN TP-Link OpenVPN Setup

Preparing for NordVPN TP-Link Setup

Obtain your NordVPN manual Username and Password

If you are not already an NordVPN user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the NordVPN website.

2. Click NordVPN on the left hand side and then click Setup NordVPN manually.

3. Enter in the verification code that was sent to your email.

4. Copy and paste your NordVPN manual username and password to a secure location. This is the username and password you will enter into the router settings to connect to NordVPN.

Download your NordVPN .ovpn file

1. There are two options for obtaining the .ovpn file. The first and recommended is to navigate to NordVPN’s server recommendation page. Click Recommended Server to display the fastest server based on your actual location. You can adjust the country if you don’t want to connect to the recommended country.

Then click Show Available Protocols. Click Download Config next to OpenVPN UDP. This will download the .ovpn file to your computer for this server. Do not open this file.

The second method to obtain a server is for connecting to a specific server number that you know you want to use. This applies to NordVPN Dedicated IP servers if you are signed up for that service. Go to NordVPN’s .ovpn file page. Then search for the server number that you want to use and click Download UDP.

TP-Link Router Setup for NordVPN

1. Navigate to the Advanced tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Client tab.

3. Check the Enable box next to VPN Client. Then click Save at the bottom of the page.

4. Click the Add button in the Server List area.

5. In the Description field enter in the name you’d like to use for this OpenVPN Client profile. We typically advise entering in the location or server number here. Our example server was us6821 so I have entered in NordVPN us6821.

Set the VPN Type to OpenVPN.

In the Username and Password fields paste in the NordVPN username and password we obtained earlier.

Click Browse and select the .ovpn file you downloaded earlier. Then click Save.

By default no devices will be assigned to the VPN Tunnel. With TP-Link firmware you must manually assign the devices that you want connected to the VPN tunnel. Proceed with the next steps to do so for all devices you want connected to VPN.

6. Click the Add button in the Device List area.

7. A list of devices connected to the FlashRouter’s network will appear. Check the devices that you want to connect to VPN. Then click OK.

8. Now that the devices have been assigned to the VPN connection click the Enable toggle in the Server List area.

Verify a successful NordVPN connection

You should now see a CONNECTED message.
Visit NordVPN’s IP Check to verify your new IP address and virtual location.

In some cases you may notice that the location is not showing the same location as the server you have input in your router settings; this is because geo tracking tools are often tricked by VPN connections. As long as you see an IP address that is not the same as your normal Internet IP address then you are indeed connected to NordVPN.

How to change the NordVPN server

Follow the steps at the top of the page to obtain a new .ovpn file.
Then proceed with the settings same as initial setup.

Surfshark TP-Link WireGuard Setup

Preparing for Surfshark TP-Link Setup

Download your Surfshark .conf file

If you are not already a Surfshark user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the Surfshark website.

2. Click VPN Manual Setup.

3. Select Router as the Setup method.

4. Select WireGuard as the Protocol.

5. Select I don’t have a key pair.

6. Enter FlashRouter as the name of the connection and click Next.

7. Click Generate a new key pair.

8. Click Choose a location.

9. Select the server location you want to connect to. Unless you need a specific location we recommend using Surfshark’s recommended Fastest server. Click Download to download the .conf file for this Surfshark server location.

TP-Link Router Setup for Surfshark

1. Navigate to the Advanced tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Client tab.

3. Check the Enable box next to VPN Client. Then click Save at the bottom of the page.

4. Click the Add button in the Server List area.

5. In the Description field enter in the name you’d like to use for this WireGuard Client profile. We typically advise entering in the location. Our example server was New York so I have entered in Surfshark New York.

Set the VPN Type to WireGuard.

Click Browse and select the .conf file you downloaded earlier. Then click Save.

6. Click the Add button in the Device List area.

7. A list of devices connected to the FlashRouter’s network will appear. Check the devices that you want to connect to VPN. Then click OK.

8. Now that the devices have been assigned to the VPN connection click the Enable toggle in the Server List area.

Download your ProtonVPN .conf file

If you are not already an ProtonVPN user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the ProtonVPN website.

2. Click Downloads.

3. Scroll down to WireGuard configuration and name the device FlashRouter.

4. Select Router as the platform.

5. Select the VPN options that best fit your needs. We typically use the settings as seen in the screenshot here if you are unsure.

6. Next select the server that you would like to connect to and click Create. At the top of the page you’ll see ProtonVPN’s recommended server which we recommend using unless you need to connect to a specific location.

If you need a specific server location find it in the list and click Create.

7. After clicking Create a new window will appear. Click Download to download the .conf file to your computer.

1. Navigate to the Advanced tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Client tab.

3. Check the Enable box next to VPN Client. Then click Save at the bottom of the page.

Preparing for Manual Hotspot Shield Setup

Obtain your Hotspot Shield OpenVPN Information

If you are not already a Hotspot Shield user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the Hotspot Shield website.

2. Click Hotspot Shield on the left side navigation.

3. Under Choose your device click Router.

4. In the Set up your router section Select your desired virtual location and then click Download file.

Open the file that was downloaded with NotePad++ for Windows or TextEdit for Apple. You only need the <cert> and <key> from the .ovpn file. All Hotspot Shield servers have different keys and certificates.

Changing the wireless channel on your ExpressVPN FlashRouter can help with WiFi stability and allows you to use a wireless channel with less traffic in your local environment.

1. Connect to the FlashRouter’s network via ethernet cable or wireless.

2. Open your web browser and enter expressvpnrouter.com or 192.168.132.1 in the URL.

3. Login with your ExpressVPN FlashRouter admin password.

4. Select Network Settings on the left hand side of the menu.

5. Select Wi-Fi Settings on the left hand side of the menu.

6. Select Advanced Settings.

7. Select the Channel Width and Main Channel you want your ExpressVPN FlashRouter to use. Note that higher 5GHz Wi-Fi channels will not be compatible with older devices. Click Save. Click Continue.

Why should I choose Wireless Repeater Setup?

If you have a MiFi wireless only internet connection or other type of WiFi internet where there is no access to any ethernet port for a wired internet connection, then you can setup a wireless repeater network to both extend WiFi and add wired connection capabilities.
If you have a large home or office area that requires additional WiFi coverage can use a wireless repeater setup to extend the existing network.
If you want to create a separate VPN WiFi network in your home without placing the FlashRouter in the same room as your primary router you can use wireless repeater to establish a WiFi internet connection and then connect to VPN on your WiFi repeater network.

Download your IPVanish .ovpn file

If you are not already an IPVanish user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the IPVanish website.

2. Successfully log in with your account information then go to IPVanish .ovpn file page.

3. Click on the .ovpn file for the server location you want to use to dowloand the .ovpn file. Do not open this file.

AsusWRT Router Setup for IPVanish

Login to AsusWRT firmware settings in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the AsusWRT FlashRouter’s network.

1. Navigate to the VPN tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Fusion tab.

3. Click Add profile.

4. In the Connection Name field enter in the name you’d like to use for this OpenVPN Client profile. We typically advise entering in the location or server number here. Our example server was in New York so I have entered in IPVanish New York.

5. In the VPN Type dropdown select OpenVPN.

6. Click Import .ovpn file and select the .ovpn file you downloaded earlier. Then click Upload.

7. In the Username and Password fields paste in the IPVanish email and password you use to successfully login to your IPVanish website account.

8. Click Apply and Enable at the bottom of the page.

If you only want certain devices to connect to the OpenVPN Client profile you are setting up instead of all the devices connected to the FlashRouter’s network click into the profile and disable Apply to all devices. Then click Devices and select the devices that you want to connect to VPN.

9. At the top of the page set the Service State toggle to ON to activate the VPN connection.

Verify a successful IPVanish connection

You should now see a CONNECTED message.
Visit IPVanish’s IP Check to verify your new IP address and virtual location.

How to change the IPVanish server

Follow the steps at the top of the page to obtain a new .ovpn file.

Flint/Slate GL.iNet Internet Setup

Follow this article when you receive your new Flint or Slate GL.iNet router to connect it to the Internet.

1. Connect the ethernet cable that came with the router from an open LAN ethernet port on your ISP modem or other router to the WAN port of the Flint or Slate GL.iNet router.

2. Connect the power to the router and wait about 2 minutes for the router to fully boot up.

3. Connect your computer, phone, or tablet to the GL.iNet router via wireless (FlashRouter24 / FlashRouter50) or via ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports on the router.

Be sure to capitalize the W.

4. Once connected via wireless or ethernet on your device open your browser and go to 192.168.8.1

5. Enter openwrt as the admin password to access the GL.iNet firmware settings.

6. Verify that your Flint/Slate GL.iNet router is receiving a WAN IP Address and webpages are loading while connected to its network.

CyberGhost AsusWRT OpenVPN Setup

Preparing for CyberGhost Setup

Obtain your CyberGhost OpenVPN information

If you are not already a CyberGhost user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the CyberGhost website.

2. Select VPN.

3. Click Configure New Device.

4. Set Protocol to OpenVPN. Select the Country you would like to connect to. Select the Server Group. Name the device in the Device Name field. Click Save Configuration.

5. Press View configuration.

6. Copy the Username, and Password that appear to a notepad, since you will need this information later in the setup process. Click Download Configuration.

CyberGhost Website OpenVPN Configuration Files Generator 1

Open the folder that was downloaded. Then open the ca.crt the client.crt, and client.key files with NotePad++ for Windows or TextEdit for Apple. All CyberGhost servers have different keys and certificates.

AsusWRT Router Setup for CyberGhost

Login to AsusWRT firmware settings in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the AsusWRT FlashRouter’s network.

1. Navigate to the VPN tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Fusion tab.

For CyberGhost you need to enter in these details manually. Click Import the CA file or edit the .ovpn file manually and then click the edit icon next to Content modification of Keys and Certificate.

9. In the Certificate Authority field paste in the entire content of the ca.crt file.

Flint/Slate GL.iNet Change Wi-Fi name and password

Follow this guide to change the Wi-Fi name and password on your GL.iNet FlashRouter.

1. Connect your computer, phone, or tablet to the GL.iNet router via wireless (FlashRouter24 / FlashRouter50) or via ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports on the router.

Be sure to capitalize the W.

2. Once connected via wireless or ethernet on your device open your browser and go to 192.168.8.1

3. Enter openwrt as the admin password to access the GL.iNet firmware settings.

4. Click Wireless.

5. Click Modify under the 5GHz or 2.4GHz band.

The 5GHz and 2.4GHz information must be changed at separate times. Keep in mind that if you are connected to wireless when changing one band you may need to reconnect with the new info you set to be on the network again to make changes to the other band.

6. Change the Wi-Fi Name (SSID) and Wi-Fi Password fields to what you want to use. The SSID should be unique and NOT a duplicate of an existing network. Click Apply.

7. Connect your devices to the new wireless network.

Wireless Repeater Bridge Setup

If you need to extend your connection capabilities and you are not able to wire directly into your main router, you can setup a FlashRouter as a Wireless Repeater Bridge. In Wireless Repeater Bridge mode the FlashRouter connects to your main router on the same subnet via WiFi, and then transmits your internet signal via the FlashRouter for internet access anywhere in your home or office.

Preparing for Wireless Repeater Bridge Setup

Verify your wireless information

In order to setup your FlashRouter as a Wireless Repeater Bridge, you will need the exact SSID and password of your existing wireless network. Make sure you have this information before proceeding.

We recommend using a 2.4GHz network to repeat as this network will have more range. Be sure to click Add under the 2.4GHz settings and not the 5GHz settings.

Locate the Local IP Address of the existing wireless network

Locate the Local IP Address of the existing router that the FlashRouter will be bridged to.

DD-WRT Router Setup for Wireless Repeater Bridge

Disable Firewall

Navigate to Security > Firewall

Set SPI Firewall to Disable.
Uncheck all boxes except for Filter Multicast.
Click Save.

Disable DNSmasq

Navigate to Services > Services

Set DNSmasq to Disable.
Click Save.

Enter Wireless settings

Navigate to Wireless > Basic Settings

Select Add in the Virtual Interface area.

Wireless Repeater Setup on DD-WRT FlashRouter - Add Virtual Interface

In the Wireless Physical Interface settings for the 2.4GHz network set the Wireless Mode to Repeater Bridge.

Change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) to match exactly with the Wireless Network Name of the network that you will bridge to.

Set the Local IP Address to a different address on the same subnet as the existing network that you noted early. (example: if the existing network is 192.168.1.1 then set the Local IP Address to 192.168.1.2)

Set the Local DNS to the Local IP Address of the existing network. (example: 192.168.1.1)
Click Save.

Change the FlashRouter's Operating Mode

Navigate to Setup > Advanced Routing

Set the Operating Mode to Router.
Click Apply Settings.

Reboot your FlashRouter

Power off the FlashRouter for 30 seconds and then power it back on. When it boots back up you will be able to access the FlashRouter’s settings at the new Local IP Address that you set. Your existing network and the FlashRouter’s network will now be bridged wirelessly.

Preparing for PIA Merlin Setup

Download your PIA .ovpn file

If you are not already a PIA user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the PIA website.

2. Successfully log in with your account information then go to PIA’s OpenVPN Config Generator.

3. On the OpenVPN Configuration Generator select the following:

OpenVPN Version: OpenVPN 2.4 or newer

Select Platform: Linux

Select Region: Choose the server location you’d like to connect to

Select Port: Typically we recommend UDP/1198 RSA-2048 AES-128-CBC SHA1 for best speeds but feel free to select the one you want to use.

4. Click Generate to download the .ovpn file. Do not open this file once it is downloaded.

Merlin Router Setup for PIA

Login to Asus Merlin firmware settings in a browser on any computer or smart device connected to the Merlin FlashRouter’s network.

1. Navigate to the VPN tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Client tab.

3. Click Choose file and select the .ovpn file you downloaded earlier. Then click Upload.

4. Set Automatic Start at boot time to Yes if you want the VPN connection to begin automatically when the router is powered off and back on.

5. In the Description field enter in the name you’d like to use for this OpenVPN Client profile. We typically advise entering in the location here. Our example server was in US East Streaming so I have entered in PIA US East Streaming.

6. Set Accept DNS Configuration to Strict. Set Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel to Yes (all). Set Kill Switch to Yes or No depending on if you want the Internet to be killed if the VPN connection drops.

If you only want certain devices to connect to the OpenVPN Client profile you are setting up instead of all the devices connected to the FlashRouter’s network please set the Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel to VPN Director. 8. Click Apply at the bottom of the page.

9. At the top of the page set the Service State toggle to ON to activate the VPN connection.

Verify a successful PIA connection

Preparing for ExpressVPN Asus AX1800S Setup

Obtain your ExpressVPN OpenVPN Information

If you are not already an ExpressVPN user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the ExpressVPN website.

2. Successfully log in with your account information. Select More.

3. Select Manual Configuration and copy the Username and Password that are displayed on the right hand side of the screen.

4. Click the Server Location that you want to connect to. This will download a .ovpn file to your computer that we will use later on. There is no need to open the file. For this example I have selected New York but feel free to select any server listed there.

Asus AX1800S Router Setup for ExpressVPN

1. Navigate to the VPN tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Client tab.

3. Click Add Profile.

4. Click Choose file and select the .ovpn file you downloaded earlier. Then click Upload.

5. In the Description field enter in the name you’d like to use for this OpenVPN Client profile. We typically advise entering in the location or server number here.

6. Enter your ExpressVPN username and password that you obtained earlier in the Username and Password. Note that these are different from your ExpressVPN email login and password.

7. Click the Activate button.

Verify a successful ExpressVPN connection

You should now see a check mark in the Connection Status area.
Visit ExpressVPN’s IP Check to verify your new IP address and virtual location.

Download your IPVanish .ovpn file

If you are not already an IPVanish user Sign Up Now.

3. Click on the .ovpn file for the server location you want to use to dowloand the .ovpn file. Do not open this file.

PrivateInternetAccess (PIA) Asus AX1800S OpenVPN Setup

Preparing for PIA Asus AX1800S Setup

Download your PIA .ovpn file

If you are not already a PIA user Sign Up Now.

1. Log in to your account on the PIA website.

2. Successfully log in with your account information then go to PIA’s OpenVPN Config Generator.

3. On the OpenVPN Configuration Generator select the following:

OpenVPN Version: OpenVPN 2.4 or newer

Select Platform: Linux

Select Region: Choose the server location you’d like to connect to

Select Port: Typically we recommend UDP/1198 RSA-2048 AES-128-CBC SHA1 for best speeds but feel free to select the one you want to use.

4. Click Generate to download the .ovpn file. Do not open this file once it is downloaded.

Asus AX1800S Router Setup for PIA

1. Navigate to the VPN tab.

2. Navigate to the VPN Client tab.

3. Click Add Profile.

4. Click Choose file and select the .ovpn file you downloaded earlier. Then click Upload.

5. In the Description field enter in the name you’d like to use for this OpenVPN Client profile. We typically advise entering in the location here.

6. Enter your PIA account username and password.

7. Click the Activate button.

Wireless Client Bridge Setup

If you need to extend your wired connection capabilities and you are not able to wire directly into your main router, you can setup a FlashRouter as a Wireless Client Bridge. In Wireless Client Bridge mode the FlashRouter connects to your main router via WiFi, and then transmits your internet signal via the FlashRouter LAN ports for wired internet access anywhere in your home or office.

Preparing for Wireless Client Bridge Setup

Verify your wireless information

In order to setup your FlashRouter as a Wireless Client Bridge, you will need the exact SSID and password of your existing wireless network. Make sure you have this information before proceeding.

We recommend using a 2.4GHz network to repeat as this network will have more range.

Locate the Local IP Address of the existing wireless network

Locate the Local IP Address of the existing router that the FlashRouter will be bridged to.

DD-WRT Router Setup for Wireless Client Bridge

Disable Firewall

Navigate to Security > Firewall

Set SPI Firewall to Disable.
Uncheck all boxes except for Filter Multicast.
Click Save.

Disable DNSmasq

Navigate to Services > Services

Set DNSmasq to Disable.
Click Save.

Enter Wireless settings

Navigate to Wireless > Basic Settings

Wireless Client Bridge Setup on FlashRouter DD-WRT - Set Wireless Mode to Client Bridge

In the Wireless Physical Interface settings for the 2.4GHz network set the Wireless Mode to Client Bridge.
Change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) to match exactly with the Wireless Network Name of the network that you will bridge to.
Click Save.

Enter Wireless Security settings

Navigate to Wireless > Wireless Security

Wireless Client Bridge Setup on FlashRouter DD-WRT - Set Wireless Password

Change the WPA Shared Key to match exactly with the Wireless Password of the network that you will bridge to.
Click Save.

Change the FlashRouter's Local IP Address

Navigate to Setup > Basic Setup

Set the Local IP Address to a different address on the same subnet as the existing network that you noted early. (example: if the existing network is 192.168.1.1 then set the Local IP Address to 192.168.1.2)
Set the Gateway to the Local IP Address of the existing network. (example: 192.168.1.1)
Set the Local DNS to the Local IP Address of the existing network. (example: 192.168.1.1)
Click Apply Settings.

Reboot your FlashRouter

Your FlashRouter is now providing wired connection access to your main router network. Wireless connections to the FlashRouter are disabled in this setup.

Back up your settings

Navigate to Administration > Backup

Click the Backup button.
A file named nvrambak.bin will be saved to your computer.
You can load nvrambak.bin to restore your settings in the event of a reset.

Parental Controls on Roqos

The Roqos Core includes a suite of user access settings which can be used as Parental Controls.
You can create individual user profiles and assign specific devices. Using these profiles you can restrict access, block certain content, or even monitor internet usage if you choose to do so.

Create User Profiles

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS.
Select the ADD USER button at the top of the menu.
Create a name to identify the user. You may also add a photo or picture to associate with this user however this is optional.
Select the SAVE button at the bottom of the menu.

Assign Devices

Once you have created a user, you must assign one or more devices to the user.
Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list.
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu.

Select DEVICES.
Select ADD DEVICE.

The ADD DEVICES menu lists all devices which are currently or previously connected to the Roqos. You cannot assign a device to a user unless it has been connected to the Roqos.
Use the check box to select one or more devices and then select the SAVE button to assign the device to the user.

A device can only be assigned to one user. Access restrictions you place on a user such as scheduled internet access or content restriction will apply to all devices assigned to that user regardless of who in your home is actually using the device at that time.

Turn Off Internet Access

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu
Use the PAUSE button next to the user’s name to halt all internet access to the devices assigned to this user. Conversely, you can restore internet access by pushing the PLAY button here as well.

Schedule Internet Access

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list.
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu.
Select SCHEDULE PAUSES. You can create multiple schedules for each user to pause their internet access on a daily recurring basis for every day of the week.

Enable Content Filters

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list.
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu.
Select FILTER. Use existing category and content filters provided by Roqos and customize with your own blocked and allowed site lists.
Select SAVE.

Monitor Internet Usage

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select USERS. Choose a user from the list.
You are now in the USER/GROUP PROFILE menu.
Select USAGE HISTORY. Access usage data for all devices assigned to this user. This includes websites visited and activity times.

Please note that in order to collect device information, you must enable this functionality on your Roqos. It is disabled by default.

Using the navigation pane on the left of the screen, select ADVANCED SETTINGS.
Select MISCELLANEOUS.
Activate the COLLECT USER INTERNET USAGE and COLLECT DEVICE DATA USAGE options.

Cudy Internet Setup

Follow this article when you receive your new Cudy FlashRouter to connect it to the Internet.

1. Connect the ethernet cable that came with the router from an open LAN ethernet port on your ISP modem or other router to the WAN port if you purchased a Cudy AX3000 or to ethernet port #1 of the device marked Primary if you purchased a Cudy M1800 or Cudy M3000.

2. Connect the power to the router and wait about 2 minutes for the router to fully boot up.

3. Connect your computer, phone, or tablet to the Cudy router via wireless (FlashRouter24 / FlashRouter50) or via ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports on the router.

Be sure to capitalize the W.

4. Once connected via wireless or ethernet on your device open your browser and go to 192.168.10.1

5. Enter openwrt as the admin password to access the Cudy firmware settings.

6. Verify that your Cudy FlashRouter is reporting as Internet and WAN Connected.

6. Verify that your Cudy FlashRouter is reporting as Internet and WAN Connected.

7. If you purchased a Cudy M1800 or Cudy M3000 mesh package you can now take the unit labeled Node to the location you want it connecting from and power it up. It will connect to the Primary network that was just setup automatically. You will then see the Mesh Units number increase according to the number that you have purchased shortly.
